Democratic Electoral College member [and Kramer Law Office, Inc. client] Vinz Koller made the following statement today following a ruling in US District Court in San Jose that denied his request for temporary relief from a California law that bars him from voting for a reasonable Republican alternative to Donald Trump:
“We will appeal this ruling, because I cannot in good conscience help to enable the election of exactly the kind of candidate the founders were trying to protect us from when they created the Electoral College.
“This is not because I disagree strongly with Mr. Trump, although I do.
"It’s because he meets the two crucial tests the founders designed: corruption and being under the influence of a foreign power.
“He is already corrupting the presidency by refusing to release his tax returns, which would show us who may hold sway over him financially, by refusing to divest himself of his global holdings, and by involving his children in both his business and the business of government.
“And, whether he is doing it wittingly or not, he is acting as an agent of a foreign power, to the point of attacking our own intelligence services in defense of the agenda of the murderous autocrat who rules Russia.
"The Constitution is very clear about the reason we have an Electoral College, and what Electors are supposed to do: act as a failsafe in the event of the election of an unqualified candidate who is subject to corruption or the influence of foreign powers.
"And no precedent or law can overturn the Constitution."
